{Texture Tuesday} – the Free & Easy eDition

Just because….

Wow where did that week just go! It is Tuesday again, so I have edited another photo for Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday, this week Kim just told us “Your photo must contain at least one layer of any of my textures…that’s it..that’s all.” 🙂

Well what I did was as follows:

Adjusted the white balance in Lightroom 3 to warm the image (increased by 500).
Added a little fill light (5%) in Lightroom 3
Decreased the vibrance (5%) in Lightroom 3
Increased the saturation (18%) in Lightroom 3
Adjusted the Sharpened the image slightly (15%) in Lightroom 3
Transfered to Photoshop Elements 8
Cloned out the dark spot at the top.
kk_plaster squared, multiply @ 50% opacity
Created a Layer mask and reduced the effect of the  texture on the tulips, with the brush opacity at 50%.
Text layer and watermark added.
The pre straight out of camera shot which I was not impressed with at all is here below

I would love to know what you think?

{Texture Tuesday} – the celebration eDition

Celebrate

Kim gave the theme of celebrate, she said

“Your photo must center around the word celebrate….Before you think… but…but… Hear me out…there are so many ways to interpret this…………Next Tuesday…let’s CELEBRATE.”

The first thing that came to mind for me was a birthday celebration, this was a photo I took of my daughters Birthday cake and I added 3 of Kim’s textures to it.

I hope you are all having a fantastic week so far and Happy Texture Tuesday 🙂

{Texture Tuesday} – the Free & Easy eDition

Kim just gave the brief that our photo must contain at least one layer of any of her textures. That’s it that’s all…….

This was shot last year during the height of the British Summer, hopefully this year after all this cold weather we have been having we have a great Summer……….well I can but dream!!!

Sunshine on a rainy day

This was edited mainly in Lightroom (I so LOVE it) and then transfered to Elements and added two textures, the first one was awaken, soft light at 10% and then plaster squared, again soft light at 15%. The textures added a nice warmth to this.

{Texture Tuesday} – the Flower Power eDition

Day 9 of 2B (Beyond Beyond) saw us looking at fonts and different ways of including it using Elements. It was a real insight, having only recently upgraded to version 11 from 8, there is so many changes and so much to learn. I had quite a play with different types of text layers (on a shape, in a shape, typing on a path – the possibilities are endless (big grin)). I cannot believe it is Tuesday again already though, which means it is time for me to join in with Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday again. This week the theme is “Flower Power” and Kim just gave the following brief………”Your photo must contain at least one layer of any of my textures, and it must have a little ‘flower power’……  No need for more information… take it away friends….”. I so love flowers so this one made me happy as soon as I saw it last week. We have had flurries of snow over the last few days, not enough to settle, but enough for it to still be cold. Spring sure seems to be late this year, I cannot wait for the weather to warm up a little and the garden to come alive with colour again. Our crocuses came up briefly so I thought this would be the perfect shot for me to use today for this “flower power edition”.

For the love of Spring

In Lightroom I first of all cropped the image then adjusted the white balance, increased the clarity and vibrance slightly and then played a little with the HSL adjustment panel mainly with the orange, yellow and magenta, luminance and saturation. Next the image was transfered to Elements where I added two textures kk_daisy, soft light @ 60%, then kk_isobel, soft light @ 15% ( I so love the Downton Abbey collections). I then added a slight lens flare but reduced the opacity considerably. Finally I added the text which I learnt how to do after watching Kim’s fantastic videos from day 9 of Beyond Beyond 🙂

Let me know what you think, improved or not?

{Texture Tuesday} – the Wise Words eDition

I thought I should spark my creativity and join in with Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday again, it has been a while! Today’s theme is centered around the the theme of “Wise Words”. The image below started off looking quite dull as it has been raining here all day, the light was poor and I was so dissatisfied with it that I nearly deleted it.

Dreams

One of the joys of processing an image in Photoshop though is the ability to work with layers and textures. It is incredible what you can can come up with when you mix an image with a texture and how you can totally change the feel of it.

In Lightroom I adjusted the white balance a little and added some fill light before sharpening the image slightly then transferred to Elements. In Elements I made the following Layer adjustments.

kk_isobel, soft light @100%

kk_plastersquared, soft light @20%

kk_violet, soft light @ 20%

Text Pea Tammi in bold, the text colour was set from the wooden house itself.
